Race for More Virtual Run

As you may know I am raising money for the Ironman Foundation.

I love racing for a cause because I love giving back to something that has given me so much.  I am really excited to work with the IronMan Foundation and all the good work they have done and will continue to do.

Each year, a select group of athletes from around the world race on TEAM IMF to support the mission of the IRONMAN Foundation. Together, we share a passion to create positive tangible change in our race communities and prove that “Anything Is Possible.”

Since 2003, over $50 million has been provided through IRONMAN charitable giveback programs including the IRONMAN Foundation to more than 8,300 local, regional, national and global nonprofit initiatives. Through these partnerships, IRONMAN athletes are powerfully linked to the community and together we leave the IRONMAN legacy behind in our race communities long after race day. We #RaceForMore.

In order to raise money for the foundation I am hosting a 5k virtual run.

How to play:

  • Click here to RSVP to the Facebook Event
  • Donate to my fundraising campaign.
  • During the month of March run a 5k and post something in the Facebook Event page about it.
  • I will send you a delightful treat.
  • Feel good about the good you did and the activity you completed.

Thank you for your continued support

Dawn

February Fitness Challenge

Guess what?

It’s a new challenge month!

We are back to a core challenge. This time we are working up to holding Boat Pose for 5 minutes!

In the download there are some modifications. Do what is best for your body, need to bend your knees? Put your hands back? All good. Just make sure to keep back straight and core engaged.

Planking Challenge

Our Planksmas has come to an end.

After 25 days we were all able to complete the 5 min plank.

Since it was Christmas we were all tasked to compete the plank on our own and then on Dec 27, when we were all back at work we would do it again.

Some thought it wouldn’t be possible to hold a plank for 5 minutes, but we did it.

Here are some of the pictures I posted of us planking:

Come January we will be starting a push-ups challenge if you would like to join me I will post the schedule on Jan 2. It’s a 30 day challenge, and since Jan 1 is on a Sun, we decided to start the Mon we all come back to work together.

I hope you all found planking as great as I did and see you in January!

Running Log ~ Welcome back

Forgive me readers, it has been months since my last post.

So much has happened this year, at least for me.

At the beginning of the year I got a new job that has taken up so much of my time and has made me slacking in my posting. I have still been crafting and running and meal planning but I haven’t had time to tell you about it.

I became a homeowner. For the very first time my husband and I bought our own house. There were a million reasons we had been renters for so long, but all that came to an end this spring.  So of course all that came with getting financed, finding a house and moving took up so much of my ‘free’ time.

I became a marathoner. Yep, I did it. I ran (well, ran/walked) my first marathon. While I am very proud of my accomplishment I am highly disappointed in my time. I will tell you all about it in another post.

I am of course ready to run my next marathon and wondering about one in Oct. There are a number of ones I would like to do in Aug or Sept but the timing just doesn’t work out.  Then there is nothing past Oct, until the next year. But I was hoping to beat my time this year….

As it has been working out, I have run at least one race every month this year.  Some months there are two and I have already participated in 3 virtual races with 2 more coming (those are not included in the monthly total!)  If I don’t do the marathon in Oct I will have to find another race to keep my streak going. I already have races planned for Nov & Dec.

I am trying to decide if I want to focus on a few big races next year or keep doing what I am doing and running all the races 🙂  I do know that there are a number of them that I have not run, that I would like to.  So next year may be the year for new races only.

I also bought my first fitness/GPS watch and couldn’t be more excited about it. It’s the Garmin Vivoactive HR. So if you are a Garmin owner and want to connect I am @MamaSonshine

I am finally on a Hood to Coast team this year! We decided to join as a fundraising team, so we are raising money for Providence Cancer Center. It has been a real challenge keeping a team of 12 people together and fundraising. Currently we are selling raffle tickets as a fundraiser and the proceeds from the running window decals I make and sell in my Etsy shop will go towards our fundraiser.

Here are the two new stickers I made to sell as a fundraiser.  You can purchase them through my Etsy shop.  And again the proceeds will go towards our fundraising goal.

I know there is more but I am tired and need to do some wall sits.  I just wanted to check in and let you know that while I haven’t been writing I am still running.

Just. Keep. Running.
