30 Day Push-Up Challenge

So I really want to start doing more push-ups. If there is one thing that is lacking in my exercise routine it is upper body strength training.  I don’t have equipment at home, so doing push-ups is a great at home work out.

For January me and my coworker decided we would start our challenge the Monday after New Years, which was is today (Jan 2), and that made it a 30 day challenge instead of a 31 day challenge.

We will do push-ups everyday with one rest day on the weekend, I have picked Sunday as my rest day, but if you want Saturday to be your rest day that is ok too. Normally I wouldn’t have rest days for something like this, but those Planksmas kids asked for it…..

We increase our push-ups and after doing 10 I have split them by adding planks in between sets. For me this breaks up the repetition of just doing push-ups over and over again.

On the 30th day you have a choice of doing all 50 at once or doing 25:25 with a plank in between.

So here is your schedule.

199 miles done and 358 days till we do it again

Well, we did it.

We ran 200 miles and we raised $10,000

Team picture at the finish line. I think this is really the only picture where we got all 12 of us together.

This was probably one of the best things I have done and I can’t wait to do it again.

Don’t worry, there will be a longer recap of the race, I have just had sooooo much going on that I haven’t even had time to sit down at my computer….

Not all followers are created equal

I know that in the world of blogging numbers are important.

sums up my thoughts on social media notoriety. amazing.

You want stats to be high. You want clicks to be high. You want strangers to follow you.

Especially if you are blogging to make an income (however small) those things matter.  You want the number of people who follow you to be high, because it shows that people want to see what you have to say.  It shows the companies, where your potential income might come from, that you will be able to get their product information out there.

I still feel great every time I get a new follower, and it makes me a little sad when I lose one.

MSS_Instagram Profile

Every once in a while I will get a notification from Instagram that I have a new follower.  Every time I click on that person’s profile.

Yesterday this is what I saw:

I blocked this user from my account

I blocked this user from my account

Now, maybe I am judging.  Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions.  Maybe I’m just turning into a ‘old lady’.  But nothing about that profile seems legit to me.  I didn’t click on the link, I was afraid to.  To me this looks like an ad for porn.  I don’t know if that profile is real, but I don’t want to know.  Pictures like that don’t belong in my life.

I put up pictures of my crafts, my life and my family.  I am OK with normal people following me and seeing those pictures, even if they are strangers.  I am not OK with profiles like that having access to my pictures.

So I blocked it.

I blocked it by clicking on the square with an arrow in the top right corner.  It gives me the option to block user, or report inappropriate.

This is not the first time I have blocked a profile like that.  Once I had to report an ‘inappropriate’ profile so it could be removed.  This also won’t be the last time I block one.  But it reminds me again how scary the internet can be.  It takes time to go through all the profiles that might like my pictures, or follow me, but I do it.  And so should you.  I know it brings my numbers down, but it is worth it.

My first Silhouette project

I have not been posting that much lately.  I have been preoccupied.

I received a wonderful new crafting machine for Christmas.  A Silhouette Cameo cutting machine!!!!!

I can’t tell you how ecstatic I was. And still am.

I have been trying to win one FOREVER! I entered every giveaway I could find, but to no avail.

I have spent all my free time watching Youtube tutorials on how to use the machine.  Looking up materials to use.  Practicing with the software and fumbling around.

I knew there was two things I wanted to make first.  A thank you gift for some friends of ours who let us stay with them when we went to visit our old town.  And a card to go with it.

So here is my very first card made with my Silhouette!

Thanks A Latte card by Mama Sonshine

You can’t really see it because of the pen ink used, but the green tag says “Thanks A Latte”

My husband and I drink a lot of coffee.  That doesn’t change when we go on vay-kay and we consumed a lot while staying at our friends house.  Since he also drinks a lot of coffee, I thought this was fitting.

Those are little coffee beans spilled at the bottom of the card.  I would not have been able to cut them out, if not for my new machine!

Graphics for this card were from Traci Reed‘s Like you a latte kit.

Wait till you see the mug I made him, that post will be coming soon.

Happy Crafting
