My big boy is turning three next month! Where the hell did the time go?
We discussed what type of birthday party he wanted and he decided on a Superhero theme.
The other day I came home and he was chattering on and said “Star Wars birffday party.”
To which I replied “Star Wars? I thought you wanted a Superhero birthday!” Ian said “Oh yeah. Superhero birfday party. BEST PARTY EVA!”
Whew!
I have been pinning ideas on my Pinterest board for the party and have been thinking about things, but I hadn’t really started to do anything yet. Then last week I got an evite from my cousin for her daughter’s birthday (Ian and her daughter were born only a week apart) and I realized ‘HOLY CRAP! I have to send out invitations soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
I had an idea for the invitations and wanted to take some pictures of him, he of course didn’t want to cooperate. Since he wouldn’t do as I wished, I would have to use some pictures I already had to make his invitations. This weekend I worked on them and I am pretty pleased with the results.
Of course I am not going to show you yet.
Here are some of the pictures I took, instead of the ones I wanted to for his invitation.
There was a time when I would have spent Superbowl Sunday on the couch in front the TV drinking, eating, cheering and actually watching the football game.
Then I had kids. I am pretty sure you never really sit again after that.
This year we went to my aunt’s house to watch the game. Ian had a great time and our Auntie Gayle was his BFF for the day. He wouldn’t let her leave his side. “Where Auntie Gayle?… I need Auntie Gayle…. Auntie Gayle you watch Ninjago wit me?….”
So without further ado, here are some pictures
Top: Ian with his favorite Auntie Gayle toys Bottom: Uncle Kip promptly stole Baby Sid as soon as we got there
Ian was excited to see Audrey and play with her piano
Top: Beans taking a break Bottom: Baby Sid and his favorite toy
Baby Sid with Cousin Audrey
who doesn’t love babies in blue jeans? Ian wanted me to take pictures of his ‘little guy’
Ian really wanted to go outside and show Auntie Gayle his ring that has his ‘super powers’ like the Green Lantern
Ian loves to “bump bellies” with people. I am not sure where he learned it, but he thinks it is super funny. I was helping Baby Sid bump bellies with him then had Baby Sid tackle Ian.
Ian really enjoyed this game and my Aunt Donna captured it with my camera. Because we had to do it over and over and over again. The last two pictures Ian told me “I hold Baby Sid all my-by-self”
While I missed most of the game and all the commercials it was still one of the best Superbowl Parties I have been to in a long time. Mostly because I was surrounded by family.
Do you have a second baby shower when the next kid is the same gender as the first?
What is the proper protocol for baby showers? Who really cares? If you want one have one!
My sister threw my shower when I was pregnant the first time with my oldest son. When I was about six months pregnant with my second son she asked me about having another one. To which I replied, “I am not throwing it, so it is not up to me.”
She and my mom decided to have a shower-meet-the-new-baby-party after he was born. And naturally I was left to choose my own theme and make my own decorations.
I decided to do a Little Man with a Mustache theme. I liked all the mustache and tie stuff I have seen on Pinterest.
While this happened in Sept. I figured I should post about it while we are still in Movember since it was full of mustaches!
Here are some of the pictures from the party:
Our take home treats. I just love the “Before you mustache (must dash) please grab a treat” sign. I also made a couple of banners of mustaches and neck ties
“Wet your Whisker” for the lemonade punch
For the take home treats my sister made sugar cookies in the shape of mustaches. She even had to make a ‘cookie cutter’
I made little mustaches that we put on bendy straws for some sipping
My mom found these mustache stickers at Party City, so it is only fitting the man of the hour wear one.
A few outfits for my little man
I made this banner that said “Boy oh Boy” I saw a similar one here via Pinterest
My aunt made Sid’s cake, it was Kahlua cream! Can you say super YUMMM!! I love the onesies with neck ties
I also made some food tags and got the Keep Calm sign idea from the same blog as the banner. My sister made “Cigar” pretzels dipped in chocolate.
We all had a great time getting together and passing around the baby.
