Menu Plan Monday July 6th

MSS_MPM

Remember that time I used to plan my meals for the week?

Yeah, I miss it too….

OK, what happened to June? In fact, what happened to the first half of the year?  I am not exactly sure how we just celebrated the 4th of July, because I am still in denial of the fact that it is July.

MSS_4th of July Celebration

It has been unseasonably warm this year in the Pacific Northwest.  Typically we have a pretty rainy spring, and don’t get above 90 degrees until after the 4th of July.  This year it happened in June, and for the weeks now we have been hovering close to the 100 degree mark. Never reaching it, but getting close.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining, but it does make for some serious feet dragging come dinner time.  The last thing I want to do is stand in my already hot kitchen and turn on something hotter to make my kitchen hotter just to feed my family.  I know, I know….

It also makes it really hard for me to want to plan meals, or think about meals, or cooking….can’t we just grill hamburgers and hot-dogs all summer long? I guess we can alternate some chicken in there sometimes.

But really, if I am gonna be honest with you, my real issues is that I am not home.  My mom has a pool and lives two miles from my house….

MSS_Summertime Fun

So when the temps get above 90 where do you think I am going to be spending those days? Or she will call me at work and tell me she picked my kids up from the sitters to bring them to her house to go swimming and everyone is going to BBQ at her house.  Works out great for me, but then I get in a no-cooking-no-grocery-shopping-rut.

Now I am out of everything and need to make dinner tonight.  So easy sandwiches is on the plan after a trip to store.  The rest of the week will be oven free and made with minimal heat.

Menu Plan 7/06-7/12

Mon: French Dip Sandwiches and salad

Tues: Bowtie Skillet Lasagna

Wed: Bacon Bourbon BBQ Chicken Kebabs with Tortellini Salad

Thr: Crock Pot Chicken Caesar Sandwiches

Fri: Leftovers

Sat: Kitchen is Closed

Sun:

Menu Plan Monday June 15th

I have not been able to plan meals for a while.

First we had family in town, and then we got sick and Sid got pink eye and I got super sick and things just spiraled out of control. The thought of planning meals was horrible, but then coming home and having nothing planned was worse.

Yesterday we spent the day fishing with the boys and got home late and were dirty and tired.  But I knew I needed to sit down and figure out what we are going to do about dinner next week.  Especially since the boys basically ate pickles and Cheetos yesterday.

Menu Plan Monday March 16th

MSS_MPM

So yesterday (Sunday) I wasn’t sure what I was going to make for dinner.  It was race day and so I knew I wanted something easy.  The race was a 15k, just under 10 miles, which is a distance I usually run on the weekend, but there is so much more energy involved in races.  So I didn’t want anything too complicated.

Turns out it didn’t matter what I planned. We lost power.

As did some 72,000 other people and businesses.  I feel like this brief windstorm was unexpected.  Or at least they didn’t expect it to do so much damage.  Check out this YouTube video of some construction scaffolding being blown down yesterday in downtown.  So needless to say I couldn’t do much cooking.

Luckily my sister made us dinner and let us stay the night so the kids could take a bath and Sid didn’t have to wear pajamas to bed.

He no  longer likes to wear clothes to bed…in fact he didn’t even get dressed on Sat.  When asked he says ‘nope. fine. yiper.’  Which translates to “Nope, I’m fine, I don’t need clothes cause I have my diaper on.”

Unfortunately we now have power again, so I have to continue cooking dinner.  This week will be completely messed up and dinner plans will be changed because T-Ball is supposed to start and I am not really sure how that is going to work.

This kid will be celebrating his 5th birthday this weekend! Where does the time go?

Menu Plan 3/16-3/22

Mon: Parmesan Chicken Bites with noodles

Tues: Lowcountry Smothered Pork Chops with potatoes

Wed: Garlic & Brown Sugar Chicken with orzo

Thr: Open Faced Hamburgers with Mac & Cheese (for the kidos)

Fri: Leftovers

Sat: Kitchen is closed

Sun: Ian’s Birthday, so he gets to pick where we eat

Menu Plan Monday Dec 15th

I can’t even believe another week has gone by in December.

I am so running out of time.  The to-do-list is just as long as it was last week.  Of course I might keep adding to it…

Cards are coming along, but not yet done….This week is more card assembly, present making, gingerbread house assembly (for our big house decorating party on Sat.) and wrapping.  No, don’t worry I didn’t mean rapping, ’cause I can’t throw down rhymes.

But what does that mean? I have no time to cook! OK, I have very limited time to cook.  So to the crock pot I turn.  And to meals that do not require a side dish.

Or I can turn to take-out, or eating at my sisters, or….are pop-tarts ok for dinner?

MSS_Breakfast With Santa

Tues: Slow Cooker Nacho Grande Soup
