Daily Thanks Day 16

Today I am thankful for little kitchen helpers.

Even when they are not so helpful…

Ian enjoys helping me in the kitchen, sometimes his mess is usually worse than mine, but it keeps the peace while I cook.

It is not visible but there is powdered grains all over the counter.  He is such a good helper.

Would you let your toddler help in the kitchen?

Daily Thanks Day 11

Today, and all days, I am thankful for this kid.

This guy is amazing.  He makes me laugh, he is my world.  The crazy things he does and says makes me wish I was recording him at all times.

I love him more than words can say and everyday I am thankful he is my son.

Daily Thanks Day 10

Today I am thankful for this double chin.

I am thankful not only for the obvious reason of it being a super adorable little face, but also because it means he is getting more than enough nutrition.

At Sid’s two-week check up he had not gotten back to his birth weight.  We had been having some minor breastfeeding issues, but nothing I was concerned about.  My fist son and I had so many nursing problems that I thought this time it was a breeze, comparatively.

Breastfeeding can be difficult and mothers can feel a lot of societal pressure about the ‘ease’ of it.  Even though I had had more than a year of experience we still ran into problems the second time around.  We still have issues but things seem to be a bit better now, and Sid is obviously gaining weight now.

Remember in things like this you can not compare your experience with others, not even with your previous attempts   Each baby is different and will behave differently.

Daily Thanks Day 7

Today I am thankful for my mom and this thingamajigy.

My mom has had this bath tub thing since my nieces were babies.  I used it with my first son, my brother used it with theirs and now I have it back.  I had my mom make a new cover for it as the previous one was falling apart.

I have one small bathroom and I couldn’t imagine where I would be able to store an infant bath tub.  So this sling-thing is perfect for bath time.  I don’t know where it came from or what brand it is, but I haven’t been able to find one like it.  Sometimes baby slips a little down towards his feet but his head is always out of the water, and he can’t roll into the water either.  The cover comes off and goes in the washing machine.

Yesterday was bath day and it reminded me how much easier this sling makes giving baby a bath.
